This is to explain vacuum types and choices for someone who doesn't have any idea what they should keep in mind or where to begin. Credit to @Osmosis Vanderwaal. Thanks for the help.

"The models that are actually good for it are expensive as fuck. The vane type vacuum pumps, like they do hvac with, they draw all of the air through the oil, so you have to change the oil every couple of hours depending on what you are distilling. A second choice behind a medical type vacuum pump is an aspirator, which hooks on your faucet. They can be had for $30-40 and produce great vacuum but thy hook to your faucet or are rigged up with a water pump and reservoir, and of course that contaminates the water too, so you have to empty the reservoir after you use it. then you come to the diaphragm vacuum pump, it works like a 2-stroke engine and the valves are rubber so they are pretty impervious to chemicals. They don't use oil at all, but they don't produce as much vacuum as a rotor y vane pump, which a single stage rv pump can pull like-13 psi (actual pressure 1.7 psi and a 2 stage can draw down to 14+ psi which will boil cold water. You can probably sublimate it with a flashlight at that vacuum (shining the light for the heat)I saw on tv a teenie tiny 2 stage rotor y pump that ran on a 20v battery for a drill, on tv and it was under $100. You would just need a good filter cold trap etc. What I use is dc minipumps, they run on a wall wart and no oil, they an also compress if you hook the hose on the other side and they can draw down about as far as a single stage rv but they don't have the volume (meaning it takes a long time to get that much vacuum and small leaks kill you. My 24v double head mini pump takes like 45 seconds to draw the air out of 1000ml erlynmeier flask and 250ml buchner funnel, if I cover the top"

Thanks yes that vevor 32 piece is awesome and cheap !
Ideally I would like to try make some custom meth just for personal use and quality control lol - one aspect I am trying to understand is how to design a reliable fumes extraction system so that I won't intoxicate myself and my studio flat when cooking it...

Small amounts of meth you shouldn't have too much of a problem cooking in your flat as long as you have a good exhaust fan. You just work really close to the window. If it is a bigger situation than that, maybe go for a grow tent you can work inside of (like the MDMA cook on Hamiltons)

Small Update:
I got a lab stand for cheap lately l.

I still need a heater, not sure if I'll buy the vevor 1000ml heating mantel or the alternative cheaper version which is a magnetic stirrer with heating element.

For the glassware I'm not sure if I'll going invest in the 32pcs vevor destilation kit or only in a few flasks.

In total I need to invest another 100-200€ to start my MMC lab.

Not sure if it's a better idea to invest in the destilation kit and heating to have equipment to produce other substances as well....

For the price of the 32 piece kit, it is a steal compared to the price for a few individual flasks. If you do get a few separate ones, they just need to be vacuum ones with the accompanying Buchners - everything else you would need comes in the kit. If you ever plan on doing anything besides MMC you will want/need more stuff. For MMC you really don't require much you wouldn't need for a one-pot or shake and bake. Get a magnetic stirrer, you can get it to function as a heating mantle with a pot full of sand and a foil jacket. Get a cheap hvac vacuum and water pump to learn with. This will cover just about anything you would want to make that you might actually be able to succeed at also. Cost might be around 500 give or take?

Thx, I already got a Buchner funnel, vacuum pump and a few other small things.

So I'll get the 32 PCs set.

Beakers, extra hotplates, pyrex dishes all kinds of misc items you can find at the cheaper shops like Job Lot or if you know a similar type of chain. The same model hot plates are actually sold with the kits, only they're painted white :D I don't use it for much other than double boiling in the background and it handles well enough. I am going to invest in a vevor stirplate soon enough. I still have to get the other items I mentioned also. My experiments and learning has suffered dearly... I've been stuck at an impasse due to funds for so long!
