Síntesis de metanfetamina a partir de P2P mediante reducción con NaBH4. A mediana escala.

Hola,

Después de muchas pruebas usando Metilamina HCL basado en este método voy a compartir la mejor manera que encontré para obtener Metanfetamina base libre en gran escala:

• 966 gr P2P
• 14 litros de Metanol
• 1183 gr Metilamina HCL
• 638 gr NaOH
• 452 gr Sulfato Sódico Anhidro
• 105 gr NaBH4
• 35 L agua destilada
• 7 Litros DCM

- Llenar el reactor con los 14 L de Metanol
- Con agitación disolver la Metilamina HCL
- Poner la temperatura del reactor a 0C (no la temperatura de la mezcla) y añadir el NaOH, la temperatura aumentará.
- Una vez que la temperatura vuelva a 20C añadir el P2P, la temperatura aumentará agitar durante 45min-1 hora
- Añadir 252gr de sulfato sódico anhidro
- Cuando la temperatura de la mezcla llegue a 8C empezar a añadir porciones de NaBH4 sin sobrepasar los 20C
- Una vez añadido todo el NaBH4 dejar mezclar por debajo de 20C durante unas 2 horas hasta que la mezcla deje de burbujear
- Añadir el agua y seguir mezclando durante 5 min
- Añadir el DCM y mezclar durante 10 min
- Dejar de mezclar y separar las capas
- Conservar la capa inferior y desechar la superior (no es rentable extraer esta fase acuosa)
- Añadir 200gr de sulfato sódico anhidro a la capa guardada y mezclar
- Filtrar en embudo Buchner
- Evaporar el DCM
- Se obtiene una base libre de metanfetamina limpia y maloliente

Is 15g of NaBH4 enough as the reducing agent for 138g of P2P? Or should I add a small amount of reducing agent to avoid some side reactions?

Hello, yes it's not enough. You have to add at least equimolar amount 38.91g of NaBH4. It's even worth to add a little more, ~1.1 eqviv 42.8g.
