Canadian police dismantled a fentanyl super-lab located in Aldersite, about 20 kilometers south of Calgary, and seized nearly $300 million worth of drugs.
A total of 31 kilograms of fentanyl were seized, along with 600 kilograms of precursors used to produce it. Experts report that one kilogram of fentanyl is equal to about a million doses.
The police also said they were on the trail of the lab after receiving information about plans to import 563 kilograms of the chemical to produce fentanyl.
In addition to drugs, the search found and seized 18 guns, a rifle, $25,000 in cash, jewelry, 11 vehicles, including four motorcycles and a boat, and three trailers. Equipment for manufacturing synthetic opioids was also seized.
The identities of the suspects involved in the fentanyl production have now been identified and all have been charged.
