Hi all , i am an amateur i have been researching ways to get to benzaldehyde thats within reach but ive hit a bit of a wall and am a little overwhelmed with so much information out there, its getting a little difficult to decide on a route to choose and i dont have the luxury of a lot of trial and error in this case.
what would the more experienced guys on here recommend in terms of getting to benzaldehyde for an amatuer from either toluene, benzene or benzyl alcohol with starting material thats either OTC or easy enough to make? sorry for such a newbie question, i do have experience with amines / p2p / and using good equipment but am starting from scratch so any help would be greatly appreciated. thankyou

The procedure below describes the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde in high yield using aqueous nitric acid as an oxidizer. Other methods of oxidizing benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde are well-known, including those using chlorochromates, persulfate, or activated manganese dioxide. The method is advantageous in that it gives a high yield while using relatively simple equipment and more common, easy-to-obtain reagents than others.

Isnt bleach oxidation far more accessible?
Its also pretty high yielding and means you just have to work with bleach and benzyl alc.
rlly no strong acids needee!!
