A methamphetamine lab was set up at the Majestic Towers luxury condominium in Bal Harbour, Florida. The lab was found after a tenant moved out of the 15th floor. When the landlord came to inspect the space and prepare it for the new tenants, he saw potentially hazardous materials and called the police.
The lab was set up inside an apartment on the 15th floor of a 22-story luxury building. According to police, they expected to find the drug lab anywhere but there. The Miami-Dade Fire Department's hazardous materials team was in charge of dismantling the lab.
Residents of the high-end condominium from floors 14 through 16 had to be evacuated for safety reasons. After firefighters and bomb squad officers made sure the occupants were safe and cleared the scene, people evacuated from three floors of the condominium were allowed back inside.
Police said methamphetamine equipment and precursors were seized. An investigation has also been opened, but the people responsible for organizing the production of methamphetamine in the luxury condominium complex have not yet been found.
