I have noticed that the ketamine crystals, that come 'under my nose' often look very different. I am very interested in this: Why is the ketamine sometimes sugar-like and sometimes in the form of long, thin needles?
My idea is that depending on the conditions (solvent, temperature) during the crystallisation of the hydrochloride or the recrystallisation, a different crystal structure is formed. But under which conditions exactly?
Perhaps a clever synthetic chemist with practical experience of ketamine can fill in the missing details.
