im using a drager x-plore 6500 with the most complete filter, hg gas included.... but how much gas, vapours etc pass thru? are those 100% safe? the smelles passing thru , but should i be scared with mercury , aluminium etc?
full mask with the most complete filter...its enough? what risks we still could have?

The filters are very safe for the use for which they are made. Normally you should change the filter after a full shift under mask, depending on chemical exposure. When opened, the filters are usable for about 6 months, should odor come through or it becomes much harder to breathe then the filter is at its capacity limit, it can also become warm. Even though these combination filters cover many different chemicals, they are more for short term use. If you know exactly what you need to protect yourself from, it is helpful to use a pure mercury filter, for example, because it has much more capacity than a combination filter. So the duration of the use of a filter depends strongly on the time of use, what for a filter you use and the load of the air, it is always worth to have a replacement.
tnx for that valuable info , so for an hg/al amalgam would be better an specific filter, and for the rest of the proccess in an MDMA synth from PMK , what would u use? a all in one filter, or would you go for better options?
Use combined filters, they are sufficient for everything. You can change them after 6 month, they aren't expensive.
I use combined filters with my half mask, because I am not working in a high loaded atmosphere and have only short use times. For example, taking mercury and preparing it for the reaction or uninstalling an apparatus that was filled with toxic gas. Mostly the mask is an additional protection to the fume hood or is ready to hand in case of emergency.
i bought the most complete, so hope it works!! about the smells ... i ever suspect there are something wrong when a smell pass thru the mask , but...that is normal, right? its still protecting?
thats the problem , i dont have a "PRO" fumes hood ...just the tube of an air extractor (like the one used to greenhouse cultives, or kitchens) just in the place where the fumes are made 8the top of a reflux column etc) and when i open the flasks etc, but i feel is not enough... what you think?
I have just as little a proper fume hood, a good blower with activated carbon filter where the hose with hood hangs over the table, which is quite sufficient. You don't have a heavily polluted atmosphere in any case, as long as there is a continuous air flow. If you think that this is not enough and you are not sure whether there is not enough oxygen, I would suggest a compressed air breathing apparatus, either with a long hose to a large breathing air cylinder, or as a backpack, as used for example by the fire department. There are special meters that can measure the oxygen content of the air.
Try it with the normal mask and your combination filter that is already habituation enough and if you can breathe normally under the mask then the protection is sufficient.

No, it is not. You have to wear it tightly to avoid air bypassing filters. Probably this mask isn't okay.
Or the filter is too old and at its capacity limit.
Did you always check before using if the mask fits well to your face? There is an easy workround for the check in 5 seconds. Hold your hand on the filter and try to breath in so hard you can, if then the mask sucks tightly to the face and you get absolutely no air in, then the mask should be tight and you should then also perceive no odor. If you so, replace the filter.

YES, YES ...I make this test every single time i wear it, too old cant be the reason, the filter has 3 uses..its a new one, but the smells ever pass thru, with all the mask ive used, half or complete masks....
as about fitting in my face, well the test is ok, and i have a bit of beard...tried today to cut a lot, and still the same....
about all that, yesterday i tried a "new" amalgamation, just instead to use the cut squares i made what many people do and seems works for they all, put the squares in a food processor or a coffee grinder... i ever thought that method would expose a lot of semi-grinded AL , and could be inappropriate due to a much faster reaction, and loss of effectivity and of course final yield, but..since a lot of people do...i tried,,,, OMG ...that thing made a killer reaction... it burned the AL (a thick one, 30 micrones) in about 10 minutes...tried to put on ice bath ..but nothing.... at least i dont wasted my MDP2P or METHYLAMINE... it generate a ton of H2 gas.... but im worried about mercury and AL contamination of the place.... THE QUESTION IS: should i be worried? or just H2 gas everywhere and thats it? the AL foil ended like burned paper....
under my point of view the amalgamation started in... 2-3 minutes in a chain reaction impossible to handle, like if one use AL powder..... ill back to my squares haha

Then there will be a substance with is not filtered with this combination filter, because you will smell nothing if all is ok. Check in any case if the filter is suitable, a smell under the mask should not be noticeable in any case.
Deep scars or extremely prominent areas of the face can also mean leaks, possibly apply cream to these areas beforehand.

in the amalgam, if i put the face more near than should i do, i can smell the IPA ....
the methallic smell of the amalgam i cant smell , and thats the most importante for me, the hg and the AL sacares me a lot , to be honest im about to try the NMF route, even with not very clear info , just to avoid the amlgams.
