Six people have now been charged with multiple drug and firearms offences after Richmond RCMP’s organized crime unit busted several alleged labs last year.
The investigation into the group behind suspected clandestine drug labs began in March 2020, and resulted in searches of several Richmond properties and the arrests of six people on Oct. 28 of that year.
Prosecutors have now charged all six — Huang-Wei “Anthony” Hsu, Chanel Hsu, Kim World Huang, Yung En “Grace” Yang, Zekun Cao and Lui Yuan Song — with offences ranging from possession for the purposes of drug trafficking to firearms offences.
Seized from the labs was a large cache of illegal drugs, precursors and high-powered rifles. The haul included:
• 28 kilograms of methamphetamine;
• 8.5 kilos of fentanyl;
• 2.5 kilos of fentanyl/heroin mix;
• one kilo of MDMA;
• 10 kilos of illicit marijuana;
• 58 kilos of ephedrine;
• And five carbine-style rifles and three pistols, as well as silencers.

Some of the items seized in the raid have also been referred to the B.C. Civil Forfeiture Office as possible proceeds of crime, including $200,000 cash, 70 silver bars, five vehicles and four luxury watches.
“These types of investigations are extremely complex and officers spend countless hours on advancing these major crime investigations,” RCMP Insp. Michael Cohee said in a statement.
Cohee noted clandestine labs are a major threat to public safety because of the volatile and explosive chemicals used, due to fire hazard and the toxicity of waste materials.
