Hi people
I have been looking around here and figured that bromo-benzodioxol has some has some interesting uses. But I didn't find a place to buy it but I know where I could get 1,3-methylenedioxyphenol in large quantities and without causing lots of suspicion. And I was wondering whether one could convert 1,3-methylenedioxyphenol to bromo-benzodioxol, as they basically have the same benzene ring substituted with a methylenedioxy moiety. The difference between them is that bromo-benzodioxol has a bromine atom at the position where 1,3-methylenedioxyphenol has the hydroxyl group.
Would it maybe be possible through halogenation or with an other method?
Thanks for reading and responding
(left is bromo-benzodioxol and right is 1,3-methylendioxyphenol.
