Question Best way to crystallize 4MMC large scale

Goodevening,

I have been looking around the forum for the best way to crystallize Mephedrone on a large scale but i have found a lot of different methods with a lot of different opinions from various people. I am looking for the best way to get nice crystals. I use 2b4mp with DCM as solvent. All tips and advise is very much apreciated.

If you have time, the best crystals are obtained from a 30/70 water/alcohol solution in a dry room at 18-20ºC. But this process will take several days. It is best to use a dehumidifier to dry the air.
If you have limited time, a rotary evaporator is a good choice for solvent evaporation. Choose it according to volume. For 15 kg of mephedrone you use 30 liters of solvent (water/alcohol). So you will need a rotary evaporator for 10 liters or more.
But fast crystallization will always give a fine fraction. The process of crystal growth is time dependent.

Another method of crystallization is to lower the temperature of the crystallization liquid. A gradual lowering of the temperature to less than -20ºC is necessary to obtain a coarse fraction.
A fine fraction can be obtained by rapid freezing. Dry ice (CO₂) can be used as a refrigerant.
